Fussy Burrito

In the last few weeks, you have become much more aware of your surroundings. You can grasp things easily now. You have become interested in remote controls and cell phones although you still haven't figured out how to use them. I tried to teach you to use my iphone but you still don't get it yet. You're a lot better at sitting up as well. You don't need to prop yourself up with your hands anymore. I think you've also started to learn to play with toys and people. You also started spitting when you don't want to eat or drink anymore. You've also gotten a lot fussier. You have started to whine/cry whenever you are ignored or left alone.

Today, we took grandma fu to Fresca. It was the first time you behaved badly at a restaurant. Before, you were always on your best behavior when we went out. I always thought it was because you were shy in an unknown surrounding. You would usually quietly survey the landscape around you and then go to sleep. That was not the case today. At first, you started screaming in your happy way to get our attention. That soon turned into crying and whining. First, we tried putting you in a high chair so you could sit with us. That lasted only a couple of minutes. You would not stop until we held you. I miss the 5 month old Mini.

Breakfast of Champions

We'll get to Cheerios one day. Oh wait, the Breakfast of Champions slogan refers to Wheaties. Well, that will be much later then.

For now, Mini is happy with pureed carrots. Mm mmmmmm.

What? There's no carrot on my face....

Rock-a-Bye Baby

Today was your Papa's birthday. It was also the first time he put you to sleep at night. Most of the time, you're asleep before Papa gets home so you've gotten used to Mama putting you to bed. Tonight, both of us laid in bed with you. You like to play before you go to sleep and make all sorts of noises. After about half an hour, I asked Mama to leave. I laid in bed with you for a little while longer as you continued to entertain yourself. Then I slid down to the floor and sat so you couldn't see me. I wanted to see if you could sleep by yourself. You hardly noticed. In fact, about 5 minutes later, you were fast asleep. It was a nice present to put my baby to sleep on my birthday.

Baby Furniture Galore

Mini has now accumulated enough baby furniture to overtake the living room. There's a swing, playpen, toy box, high chair, playmat, and bathtub which doubles as her "boat." There's no hiding a baby in this house anymore.

Row, row, row your boat

Bananas and Bpoo-bpoo

Mini is ready for the good stuff now. She's tried mashed bananas twice now and appears to like it. We'll start her on rice cereal and yummy pureed veggies. She is also drinking formula on a regular basis.

Yesterday, Mini learned to make a bpoo-bpoo sound and now she can't stop. She started last night and immediately upon waking this morning, she was going bpoo bpoo bpoo. It was really funny to wake up to this. She was always our alarm clock but now she comes with cute built-in sound effects.

Mini goes to the bank

This morning, I wanted to show Grandma how to deposit a check at the ATM. We decided to take you along with us in the Bjorn. It was quite chilly outside so we put you in your snow bunny outfit. You were rather expressionless throughout the walk until we got the Citibank ATM. For some reason, as Grandma was going through the menus, you were laughing hysterically. I'm not sure if it was the screen or the beeps from the buttons, but you really enjoyed it. Afterwards, we went to the BofA ATM. Not a peep. Anyway, by the time we got home, you were passed out -- and I was the one that had to carry you up the hill!

Baby Chompers

Mini's teeth may be on their way. She has been rubbing her lower gum and exhibiting the signs of cutting teeth with some crying and more drool than usual. Any day now, we'll see the white cap appear.

Mini learns to roll over

Grandpa Fu and Grandma Fu have been trying to teach Mini to roll from her back to her stomach for the past couple of weeks. They've been claiming that she's been doing it for a while. However, the times I had seen it, it was all slightly assisted, either by the curvature of the couch cushion or actual physical assistance. Anyway, for the first time a couple days ago I saw her do it completely by herself. In fact, she does it automatically now when you put her down on her back with no prodding at all. I think they've taught her too well. It makes for difficult diaper changes.

Today, we also took Grandma Fu to Fisherman's wharf to get some seafood. We also went to the Boudin building where we took a couple of pictures.

Uncle Daniel goes Bye-Bye

Uncle Daniel came to visit us this past week and a half. It was the first time you saw Uncle Daniel. We were taking bets on whether Uncle Daniel would hold you since he is not a fan of babies. He's been known to eat them whole. Anyway, surprisingly, he actually did and we have photo proof of it! He could not resist your cheeks.

Fu Family Reunion

For the first time in quite a while, we went to visit Aunt Kathy and her family. It was the first time seeing her new home as well. Uncle Andy and Aunt Wendy came as well as Uncle Daniel and the grandparents. They made some yummy food for us. Not a whole lot happened but we did get some cute pictures:
