Standing

One day she's learning to sit up, now she's gone straight to standing. Grandma Chan looked away for a minute, heard a small grunt, and found Mini standing by herself holding onto the ottoman.

Mini is able to pull herself up in the crib and take small steps while holding onto the bars. Now she's adventurous enough to do it in the living room with the coffee table and, well, anything she can reach.

This might be a better way for her to get around the house. Crawling is less effective since she slides all over the hardwood flooring.

Time to baby proof the house!

Sitting

Starting this week, Mini can now go from her stomach to a sitting position. From her hands and knees she gets up on her feet and then turns to one side. From there she pushes herself up to a seated position. Sounds complicated for such an easy thing for the rest of us.

Baby Got Back

Mini got her second dose of the flu vaccine and barely cried from the shot. Love her! We also did a quick weigh and she came in at 17lbs and 4oz. Not a lot of gain since last month. She can show off what she did gain though, check out her booty pose...

Junk in the trunk!

Pai Pai So

Finally, Mini is clapping. Something she's always enjoyed from very early on. I would clap her hands for her and she would always laugh. Then, she figured out how to put her hands together, although with both fists closed. About a month ago, she started to clap with one hand open and one hand closed. Then finally, I saw her yesterday clap with both hands open. It was exciting although Grandma Chan said she's been doing it for a couple of days. Anyway, I'm not sure if it's normal to go through so many phases but it's interesting to watch Mini learning.

My SuperGirl

It finally happened. Ever since Mini started to become more and more mobile, we've become more and more concerned about her falling off various things. Today, it finally happened on my watch. I still feel extremely bad about it, but by the time I left this morning, she may have already forgotten about it.

Anyway, I was lying in bed this morning with Mini as Mama was taking a shower. I had an appointment to see an accupuncturist. It was getting close to when I had to leave so I was looking up the directions on my phone. Mini was on her stomach just a foot away from me and probably about a foot from the edge of the bed with her feet facing the edge. I remember she kept wanting to reach for my phone as usual. Then in a span of about 30 seconds while I was focused on getting directions, all of a sudden I heard a thud, silence, then crying. Baby was on the floor! I rushed over as quickly as I could and picked her up. I did a quick check and everything looked to be in place. I held her close and told her it was ok. About 30 seconds later, she was no longer crying. What a trooper! Her cries were actually much tamer than her cries when she's tired. I have to imagine she landed feet first and then onto diaper and head. Either way, I'm sure it was still very scary for her. Unfortunately, I think she had forgotten about her fall by the time I left for my appointment so I'm not sure if she has learned the perils of height yet.

First Tooth Has Arrived

Mini drank from a glass this morning and she made "tink, tink" sounds. It was strange to hear but we just passed it off as tongue sounds. Later in the day, she was crying and there it was - her first tooth! It's still in her bottom gum line but you can see the white.

Snip, Snip Gone Wrong

It's bound to happen... gettting that bad haircut. Mini's time came sooner than expected and Mama is so very sorry and will try not to do it again. Cutting a child's hair while they are sleeping and fidgeting is not an easy thing to do, especially without any experience. This is her second trim (first one went okay) and now she's looking like Jim Carrey from the movie Dumb and Dumber.

Grandma Chan likes it but this is also a grandparent who thinks the old-school bowl cut is the way to go.
