Mommy Sandwich

It's 3AM and I am sandwiched between my two munchkins in bed.  Mini to the right and Grande to the left.  Both are in peaceful sleep and I am just enjoying the alternating breath sounds.  I have to savor these moments.

Pneumonia

There was a second trip to the emergency room and this one put Mini in the hospital for three days.  The doctors said to admit her for IV fluids and antibiotics to combat the pneumonia.  Also had to do some Albuterol breathing treatments.  Poor thing was so despondent from not eating and drinking.  It was sad to see Mini in this state.  And the house was so quiet without her chatter and singing. 

She showed improvement after the first night but was still pretty lethargic.  It took her another day to smile.  The last day, she was back to her old self giving everyone a hard time.

Weaned

Grande, today was your last day of breastfeeding.  You are sick and can't breath so it's hard to drink.  Plus, I am at the hospital with Mini so can't keep a regular feeding schedule.  So you are self weaning and shake your head when it's time to nurse.  Not sure where you learned to do this but you shake your head when you don't want things, mainly eating.  It's pretty cute. 

I will miss my bonding time with you.  You were such a silly one, always kicking your feet around when nursing.  You liked to smile up at me and giggle.  You bit me a couple times and laughed, little bit evil coming from a nine month old.

Happy Valentine's day

We spent Valentine's day at the hospital for mini and Grande. Both of them got sick. Mini since Monday. Grande since yesterday. High fever was worrying us. They gave mini a breathing treatment for her coughing and labored breathing. She also got a chest x-ray to check for pneumonia. Grande just got some Motrin and he was in much better spirits.

Playgroup Buddies

Mini has been with this Mandarin speaking playgroup since she was eight or nine months old.  Grande was initiated this week (we had a playdate at our house and he was the official host) and is now a member of this growing baby pack.  It's really special to see these kids grow up together and see themselves as besties.  It's even cuter to see the younger ones start playing together and follow in their big sisters' footsteps.

Hug or headlock?

I find my babies in alarming position more and more frequently.  Each time, I have to ask myself if it's a hug or headlock.  Most of the time it's the latter.  These two do a lot of wrestling - headlocks, head butts, pins, slams, etc.  Mini's favorite move is to sit on Grande.  Grande's fave move is to launch his whole body onto Mini and go for the hair.  

They both hold their own.  In the photo above, I swear Grande pushed her up and off after being pinned down too long.

Rubber Band Car

Mini's finished project from second round of woodworking class.  It's a wooden speedster that propels itself by a rubber band.  Flashy paint job, veers to the left since the front axle was drilled crooked.

Tub Time

Bath time shenanigans.  Mini and her dino crew with duckies mixed in.

Growing up fast

Grande can stand assisted for a long time now. He can also feed himself. Here he's eating blueberries.

Grande and his chew toy (a bagel).  He beat Mini to the breakfast table this morning and grunted for his food.  Little guy likes to eat and tastes everything we have.  Has a very good appetite.
